"Believing To The Saving Of The Soul"

Christians are those that believe to the saving of the soul. The Hebrew writer wrote, "But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul." (Hebrews 10:39) Believing to the saving of the soul means the same as living a righteous life. The righteous have God in them and it shows in their daily living.

Those that believe to the saving of the soul walk in integrity. Solomon wrote, "The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him." (Proverb 20:7) The walk or life of the Christian must be marked by integrity. Integrity means soundness, adherence to a code of values, utter sincerity, honesty, and candor or completeness. Our word, work ethic, honesty and commitments must bespeak our claims to serve Jesus.

Those that believe to the saving of the soul get up when they fall. Never give up on your spiritual journey. "For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity." (Proverbs 24:16) Christians fall, make mistakes, need improvement, and must get up when spiritual failure happens.

Those that believe to the saving of the soul care for the poor. People are hurting all about us. "The righteous considers the cause of the poor, But the wicked does not understand such knowledge." (Proverbs 29:7) God's people must have compassion for those who are poor or hurting. The poor will always be among us. Let's never forget them!

Those that believe to the saving of the soul sing and rejoice. Believers have reason to sing and rejoice. "By transgression an evil man is snared, But the righteous sings and rejoices." (Proverbs 29:6) An evil man has nothing to sing and rejoice about. God's children are righteous and, therefore able to do both sing and rejoice under all kinds of circumstances.

The book of Proverbs, which has provided the basic thoughts for this study, teaches much about righteous living. Read this book often to learn how God expects His people to live, think and act. Talk is not enough. God expects faithful living. God expects action on our part!

To begin your Christian life hear the gospel (Romans 10:17), believe in Jesus (John 8:24), repent of your sins (Luke 13:3), confess Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9-10) and be baptized into Christ. "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ." (Galatians 3:26-27) After being washed in the blood of Jesus at baptism be among those that believe to the saving of the soul. "But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul." (Hebrews 10:39)
