Add Knowledge

Every Christian should make a resolution every day of making his calling and election sure and right by God. The Holy Bible teaches Christians how to do just that. By adding what many call “The Christian Graces” to our lives, we can be sure that we will be given an abundant entrance into Heaven when we leave this earthly realm. One of the attributes that the Bible calls on us to take up in 2 Peter 1:5-11 is that of knowledge.

Knowledge is very important to us. We are to grow in knowledge. God’s people especially need knowledge. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” (Hosea 4:6) Jesus taught, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)  Solomon taught, “Buy the truth, and sell it not:  also wisdom and instruction, and understanding.” (Proverbs 23:23) The question then must be asked, how do we attain this knowledge?  We simply must study God’s Word. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

Teaching and learning are vital parts of Christianity.  Jesus the Christ commands His followers, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:19-20) As Christians, you need to “sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” (1 Peter 3:15) Let us strive to gain knowledge diligently. Let us also have great haste in doing so.
