NOW THAT THE MEETING IS OVER

Now that our gospel meeting is over there is so much that needs to be done and so many things that every one of you can do to help the Walnut Street Church of Christ be an honor to God. May I suggest the following?

CONTINUE TO BE AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT: Think of the work of the church as MY work. Make every possible effort to attend every assembly of the church. This includes Sunday and Wednesday Bible classes. Determine that the Lord and His work are going to be first in your life. "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:33)

CONTINUE TO INVITE AND BRING FRIENDS TO THE CHURCH ASSEMBLY: All of us have someone in our acquaintance that we can influence to come with us to the services of the church. If every member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ would be serious about this one thing our growth would be phenomenal. Go by and pick up people for the services. Sit with them when they attend. Make them feel at home. Let them feel our love. Introduce your visitor to others. Put forth a special effort to have your visitors in your home. Go to work for God! "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Philippians 2:12)

CONTINUE TO BE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT CHRIST AND HIS CHURCH: Talk about the good things which go on at the Walnut Street Church of Christ. Talk to your friends about the lessons you hear, and how much you are helped and inspired. Talk about our mission work and youth work. Talk about our Bible classes. And, SAY NOTHING TO DIS-COURAGE OTHERS.

CONTINUE TO USE YOUR TALENTS FOR GOD: If every member of the Walnut Street Church would just use their talents for God many lives could be touched. It is easy to be critical of others when we are guilty of not using our talents. Those that do what “they can” will be blessed and will be a blessing to others. But what a terrible fate awaits those who do not use their talents for God! "...For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.’And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 25:14-30)

CONTINUE TO BE ATTENTIVE IN EVERYTHING: The singing during the meeting was great. We should be ready to sing and sing from our hearts during every assembly. During the meeting powerful prayers were prayed. Let us pray daily for the church and its work. We need to pray for one another because we all stand in need of prayer. During every assembly we should listen to every word of the sermon just as we did in the meeting. This is not only good for us, but also an object lesson to our visitors. Visitors will notice these little things. They will be impressed.

CONTINUE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR FAMILY'S CONDUCT AND ATTENDANCE. Be on time at each assembly. Help your family be a credit to the Lord and a good influence in conduct. Your children cannot be expected to conduct themselves properly without parental supervision. "And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:4) The church will grow when our focus is on getting our families to heaven.

CONTINUE TO PRAY EARNESTLY EACH DAY: Pray for our elders and their work. Pray for unity.  Pray for lost souls who need Christ. Pray for those friends and relatives who need the blessings of God. Encourage them. Also pray that you can grow spiritually. There is power in prayer. "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."

(James 5:16.)
