Who Is This One Called Jesus?

Who is the man Jesus? He is the Son of God. Jesus changed the history of the world and has had such an impact that many would gladly die for Him. Many of the things Jesus said about Himself help us understand His impact on humanity.

The bread of life: Jesus said, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst." (John 6:35) Jesus is the only thing that will satisfy the cravings of man’s soul.

The light of the world: Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." (John 8:12) Without Jesus we walk in darkness.

The true vine: Jesus said, "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser." (John 15:1) Without Jesus our life is empty and fruitless.

The door to the sheep: Jesus said, "…Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep." (John 10:7) The entrance into God’s sheepfold is Jesus Himself.

The good shepherd: Jesus said, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep." (John 10:11) Jesus leads and protects His people.

The resurrection and the life: Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." (John 11:25) With Jesus there is no need to fear death.

The way, the truth, and the life: Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) Through Jesus we can know the way and be sure it is right.

The one who knows the heart: Jesus said, "I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works." (Revelation 2:23) Jesus not only knows what we do, but also what is in our heart as we do it.

The bright and morning star: Jesus said, "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star." (Revelation 22:16) Jesus fulfilled all that the Old Testament said about the Messiah.

Jesus is our wonderful Savior. May all mankind bow in humility before Him. Let everyone say with Job, "For I know that my Redeemer lives…" (Job 19:25) Our spiritual life is through and because of Jesus, the Christ. “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.” (Hebrews 2:9) To be saved from sin hear the gospel (Romans 10:17), believe in Jesus as God’s Son (Mark 16:16), repent of all sins (Luke 13:5), confess Christ as Lord (Matthew 10:32), and be baptized into Christ (Romans 6:3-4) After baptism, live in Christ and have Christ in you (Galatians 4:19)
